Description

This class teaches the basics of casting, mold making, and metalworking skills. Using the bone of a cuttlefish as a rudimentary mold, students learn about negative space, a very important concept of casting and foundry work. After carving the cuttlebone, liquid metal is poured into the mold to produce a solid object. Then students work with their metal object and learn basic metalworking techniques to turn their rough metal object into a finished sculpture. Closed toed shoes required.
